After coming off an 8-1 loss to the Swift Current Indians earlier in the week, the Regina Red Sox looked to bounce back against the Melville Millionaires on Wednesday night.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Red Sox exploded for six runs. Eric Baker, Hector Rivera, Pier-Olivier Dostaler, Bronson Gillam, Tyler Wheeler, and Austin Drummonds all scored for the home team. The Millionaires responded with one run in the top of the eighth, but the Red Sox followed up with a trio of runs scored by Rivera, Dostaler, and Gillam in the bottom half of the inning. Regina-born Jarret Duchscher closed out the game for the Red and White and secured them the 9-1 win.
At the plate, Rivera went 1-for-1 with four walks, a pair of RBIs, and two runs.
Red Sox pitcher Ryne Drummonds made his third appearance on the mound. Drummonds struck out 10 batters, allowed five hits, and ultimately improved to 3-0 on the season.
Alex Webb got the loss for the visitors.
The next Regina Red Sox home game will be Thursday night against the Weyburn Beavers at 7:05 p.m.
