This past week, the Regina Red Sox and the Medicine Hat Mavericks met twice back-to-back at Currie Field in Regina, Saskatchewan. The Red Sox came out on top of the first game, 4-2, and looked to sweep the two game series on Friday night when the two teams met again.
Unlike the first matchup though, it was the Mavericks that jumped out to the early lead when designated hitter C.J. DeDeaux crossed home plate.
The Red Sox responded with three runs by Travis Tessandori, Chase Benfield, and Geoff Macdonald in the bottom of the third.
By the end of the eighth inning, the Red Sox led 5-4, but three errors were committed in the top of the ninth by the Red Sox, which allowed the Mavericks to score two runs and ultimately overcome a one run deficit to win the Friday night rematch, 6-5.
Benfield and Macdonald had a pair of hits for the Red Sox, while Grant Silva went 3-for-5 at the plate for the Mavericks.
The Red Sox are back at home on Sunday, June 9, 2013 to take on the Yorkton Cardinals. Game start at 2:05 p.m.
