It was a beautiful evening for baseball Tuesday night and the 850 fans that came out were given an offensive display from both teams. The Sox and 57’s combined to bang out 32 hits in the game, a night the pitchers would like to soon forget. Swift Current scored two runs in the top of the 1st inning only to see the Sox gain a huge lead after a big 9 runĀ  3rd inning. The Sox lead became 13-5 after 6 innings but Swift Current battled back scoring 6 runs in the top of the 7th inning. Both teams traded single runs in the 8th and 9th innings.

Brendon Gutierrez made his first start of the year and earned the win pitching 5 innings of 5 hit baseball. Newcomer Garrett Klein pitched 1 inning in his first appearance and allowed a 2-run homerun while shacky off some rust. Josh Castillo bore the brunt of Swift Currents big 7th inning outburst allowing 6 earned runs in his inning of work. Brandon Rice finished the game allowing 1 run over 2 1/3 innings of work.

 

Justin Carinci was named player of the game based on his 4 for 7 game. Justin had 1 RBI and scored 3 times. Justin Syring, Kody Hanna Silas Butler and Matthew Fox also had 2 hit games for the Sox. Butler had 3 RBI and some clutch hits for Regina

 

Next Sox home game is Friday Evening when the host Medicine Hat Mavericks for the first time this season.
