Regina, SK (June 2, 2021) – The Regina Red Sox and partner Living Sky Sports and Entertainment (LSSE) are pleased to provide an update to their press release dated April 4, 2021.
On March 31, 2021, the ballpark stadium project and design plans were presented to the Executive Committee of the City of Regina, together with a subsequent non-binding letter of intent (LOI), whereby the parties could proceed collaboratively with the intent of doing further due diligence on the development of stadium plans. To date, no formal response has been received from the City of Regina regarding the proposed project, nor any formal update on the status of the LOI. Nonetheless, the Red Sox and LSSE continue to invest in due diligence work on the development plans for a baseball stadium at the Railyards.
To that end, a local engineering firm was engaged by LSSE and the Red Sox to conduct an analysis on the impact to domestic water, wastewater and storm water servicing demands of the proposed baseball stadium at the Railyards. More specifically, the analysis measured the impact of stadium service demands against the servicing demands of the conceptual Regina Revitalization Initiative (RRI) Yards plan. A summary of that analysis of the service demands is described below:
Gary Brotzel president of the Red Sox said, “We are encouraged that it appears the baseball stadium design will reduce demands on the City of Regina utility services, as well as likely result in a decrease in City of Regina expenditures for municipal infrastructure related to servicing a baseball stadium versus the RRI plan.” Brotzel added, “We continue to believe a downtown baseball stadium at the Railyards will revitalize and add vibrancy to the entire downtown core and be a source of pride for the City of Regina.”
